Upgraded Platform, Defense Table of Official Distances

The new Defense Table of Official Distances (DTOD) is an upgraded user platform for which official distance calculations can more effectively be acquired. Along with the user interface, internal systems have been re-designed and developed to perform faster, and be more intuitive. Distance processing speeds of this system have been calculated at 30% faster compared to the past system. The DTOD team and SDDC, the organization that sponsors this intiative would like to welcome you to the new DTOD system.

The Defense Table of Official Distances (DTOD) is the official source for worldwide distance information used by the Department of Defense (DoD). DTOD provides vehicular land distances for all DoD personal property, all DoD freight, and PCS/TDY travel needs. It generates point-to-point distances and routes for origin/destination pairs of locations. The DTOD website’s distance calculation and mapping functions provide road segment and cumulative distances over the network of truck-usable highways and roads in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Asia.

April 3rd, 2013 --> GENC Support

Starting 15 October 2013, DTOD will support the Geopolitical Entities, Names, and Codes (GENC). GENC is the U.S. Government profile of ISO 3166, modified only where necessary to comply with U.S. law and U.S. Government recognition policy. The GENC Standard is a combination of entries from the ISO 3166 Countries and Subdivisions Register. The current standard for geopolitical codes used in DTOD is Federal Information Processing Standards/FIPS, which will still be supported for transparency to our users.
